Atlanta PD Arrest Suspect In The Shooting Death Of Chicago Hip-Hop Artist King Von

UPDATE: News recently broke that 22-year-old Timothy Leeks has been arrested by Atlanta PD and charged with the murder King Von’s death.

King Von has reportedly died following a shoot-out in Atlanta early Friday morning. Initial reports said that the up-and-coming Chicago emcee was one of several men involved in the shooting that took place outside of Monaco Hookah Lounge in downtown Atlanta. Two men were pronounced dead at the scene while Von was taken to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The altercation is believed to have started with an argument between members of Von’s crew and Savannah, GA rapper Quando Rondo’s crew. Surveillance footage shows multiple people spilling out of the lounge into the street, throwing punches. Seconds later, a man steps out from behind a parked SUV and begins firing a gun. The group scatters, leaving two people lying in the street. The gunman then appears to also get shot as he is seen falling to the ground. A total of six people were confirmed shot.

Condolences began pouring in on social media yesterday, most notably from his girlfriend rapper Asian Doll, who tweeted,

“My heart is gone I’m just a empty soul in a human body I rather die then to feel this pain I CANT TAKE IT IM NOT STRONG ENOUGH VON.” She also posted a number of touching photos and videos of the two on IG.

King Von, whose real name was Dayvon Bennett, was raised in the notorious O Block neighborhood of Chicago’s South Side. He began rapping in 2018 and hometown hero Lil Durk took an early interest, signing Von to his Only The Family imprint. OTF released Von’s single “Crazy Story” in late 2018, which earned platinum status thanks to its captivating narrative.

Von was on grind mode in 2020, dropping the mixtape Levon James in March, as well as his debut album, Welcome to O’Block just last week. Both projects featured verses from Lil Durk and other notable contemporaries such as Tee Grizzley, Moneybagg Yo, and G Herbo.
