Detroit rapper Big Sean and the Detroit Pistons have entered into a partnership. That will give Big Sean the title of Creative Director of Innovation within the Pistons organization.
According to The Undefeated, Big Sean “will help guide the franchise’s cultural aesthetics. Both on and off the court. From merchandise design to in-game experiences to community involvement.” NBA.com notes that Big Sean will also curate music for Pistons in-game entertainment. Including halftime performances and DJ playlists. Sean will also participate in creative sessions and spearhead collaborations with the Pistons design team to launch custom merchandise line extensions.
In the interview with The Undefeated, Big Sean says, “It was really something I threw out in the universe one day. I mentioned it, like, man, they need to give me a job! Talking about the Pistons, Red Wings, Tigers or Lions. I’m a huge Detroit fan. I’m ride or die with it … I’ve always said that, but especially with the Pistons. It’s crazy that it happened like this. I’m just truly grateful.”
Detroit Pistons’ Chief Business Officer, Mike Zavodsky, says, “Big Sean embodies everything the Pistons organization is about. Creativity, hard work, and the people of Detroit. Big Sean and the Pistons are both a part of the fabric of Detroit, and we look forward to this partnership, reflecting the culture of the city we both call home.”
According to a Google search-the six-time Grammy-nominated rapper album, “Detroit 2,” has a 96% approval rating from users. All in all, Anderson’s new partnership with the Pistons will carry him into another year of success.
