Does DaBaby Have One Of The Top 5 Hottest Flows?

DaBaby recently responded to what some might call constructive criticism when a fan tweeted, “Better switch your flow…” After telling the fan to “Switch your life,” the Charlotte rapper let off a full clip of follow-up tweets in which he proclaimed, “Y’all know dis flow Top 5 hottest in the game right now.” The tweets immediately became a point of contention, with great points made on both sides.

So, does DaBaby have a case? Well, what is flow? It’s most commonly defined as a rapper’s rhythm and rhyme on a song. As far as rhythm goes, Baby tends to get ahead of the beat at times. It’s not quite to the level of Blueface, but it is enough to really irk the critics who listen intently to the way an artist rides the beat.

One can argue that he makes music for people who aren’t primarily listening to flow.

Does it have a catchy hook? ✔

There is no question that DaBaby has a distinct sound. He spits with clarity, and, in the age of mumble rap, it’s refreshing to hear a rapper whose lyrics you don’t have to look up on Genius. He also sounds like he is genuinely excited to be on the mic.

There is nothing worse than an apathetic rapper! But does all that equates to having a great flow? Not necessarily. The argument of flow is always going to be too subjective to come to any real conclusion. One thing that can’t be disputed is Baby’s assertion that he is “Top 5 hottest in the game right now.”

His third studio album, “Blame It on Baby,” debuted No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart back in April and has stayed on the chart for 25 consecutive weeks, hitting No. 18 this week.

His single “Rockstar” featuring Roddy Ricch also hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has charted for 25 consecutive weeks. After his recent featured on Dua Lipa’s single, “Levitating,” he claimed to have about five songs on which he and Justin Bieber collaborated.

And just this past weekend, Kanye West shared a snippet of his brand new collab with Baby via Twitter. In an attempt to keep rap critics busy, DaBaby is planning to release yet another album before the end of the year.
