“Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!” will reunite Jamie Foxx with showrunner Bentley Kyle Evans from The Jamie Foxx Show. The Netflix comedy is inspired by Foxx’s real-life relationship with daughter Corinne Foxx, who also serves as executive producer.
Comedian and actor Jamie Foxx have partnered with Netflix for the comedy series, “Dad Stop Embarrassing Me.” The series will feature Foxx as Brian Dixon successful business owner and bachelor. Dixon unexpectedly became a full-time father to his teenage daughter Sasha, played by Kyla-Drew. Determined to be the father he can be, Brian gets help from his dad, played by David Alan Grier.
“Dad Stop Embarrassing Me!” will reunite Foxx with showrunner Bentley Kyle Evans from The Jamie Foxx Show. Ken Whittingham, director of black-ish, is set to direct the comedy series. The Netflix comedy is inspired by Foxx’s real-life relationship with daughter Corinne Foxx, who also serves as executive producer.
The 27-year-old Corinne recalls her final game as a cheerleader, and her whole family was in the stands wearing T-shirts with her face on them.
“It’s 15 people, and my dad is the ringleader,” says Corinne. “The last thing a teenage girl ever wants is their dad drawing attention to themselves in that way. When you’re in the moment as a teenager and going through this stuff, it’s not funny. And you’re actually upset.” Corinne continues, “But it’s so fulfilling to see how these stories have grown into something that my dad and I can cherish and love. This is our story, and it’s just like, ‘Wow, at least we went through all that for something, shared the younger Foxx.
“Dad Stop Embarrassing Me,” will premiere on April 14, 2021. And will feature 8-30 minute episodes. The cast will include Jamie Foxx, David Alan Grier, Kyla-Drew, Porscha Coleman, Jonathan Kite, Heather Hemmens, Valente Rodriguez.
