Congrats are in order for Houston hottie Megan The Stallion, who has won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist.
The award comes after a strong 2020 for the “Cry Baby” rapper. She saw massive success for her feature on Cardi B’s single, “WAP,” which is now 5x platinum. Her TikTok sensation, “Savage,” reached platinum status, with its remix featuring Beyonce shooting to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Rap Songs Chart. Her latest album, “Good News,” released in January of this year, is now certified gold. Having amassed a treasure trove of No. 1’s and well-received features and singles, the college student being crowned the Best New Artist comes as no surprise.
The 26-year-old went up against Phoebe Bridgers, Doja Cat, Chika, Kaytranada, D Smoke, Ingrid Andress, and Noah Cyrus at the intimate socially distanced ceremony that took place in Los Angeles over the weekend.
“I really just want to thank god because thank you for putting life into my body for me to be able to even be here today. I want to say thank you for always being with me, being by my side,” Megan said during her acceptance speech.
In addition to Best New Artist, Meg also took home Grammy Awards for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song for “Savage Remix.” She and Beyonce joined one another on stage to accept the Best Rap Song award, where the icon expressed how proud she was of Megan.
Tina Snow also graced the stage with Cardi B for a stellar performance of their massive hit single, which caused quite a stir for its racy dance routine.
