An interesting exchange on social media between Nicki Minaj and rapper Cuban Doll set the internet ablaze and left Cuban Doll to be the bud on everyone’s jokes.
Over the weekend, the “Let It Blow” rapper posted a seductive image from her latest photoshoot. In the caption, she used a line from Nicki Minaj’s “Crocodile Teeth (Remix).” However, she misquoted the line.
“My type of gal wanna know da opps out,” is what Cuban captioned the photo. Minaj took notice and playfully dropped down in Cuban’s comment section to give her the actual lyrics to her song, writing, “Might tek a gyal man, I know da opps out.” Cuban quickly corrected the caption on the photo. However, by then, the internet had already caught wind of the blunder and proceeded to drag The 23-year-old Texas raptress.
The rising artist took to her Instagram Story to post a screenshot of someone saying that she should have asked for the lyrics before posting the photo. Cuban added, “I’m so embarrassed.”
The backlash became so profound that the “Itty Bitty Piggy” MC cleared the air and let fans know that she was only joking with Cuban and meant no malice by correcting her.
“I hope y’all know I love Cuban. I was havin fun w her. I don’t try 2 embarrass ppl I fuk wit. That’s corny. I’ll never correct a lyric ever again chile. Boom,” Minaj wrote.
Elsewhere in Nicki Minaj’s social media universe, the platinum-selling rap vet and new mother have been making a lot of noise. Earlier this month, she returned to Instagram to announce that her critically acclaimed mixtape, “Beam Me Up Scotty,” was arriving on streaming platforms. Despite being released 12 years ago, the mixtape sold 80,000 copies in its first week on DSPs.
