According to TMZ, Nicki Minaj is facing a $200 million lawsuit over the “Rich Sex” track from the 2018 “Queen” album. Rapper Brinx Billions, also from Queens. Is accusing the female rapper of jacking his song “Rich Sex” after playing his version for her in 2016.
According to legal documentation retrieved by TMZ. Brinx, whose real name is Jawara Headly, alleges that Nicki told him that the song would be extremely marketable and could become a global hit.
Brinx, who received credit as a writer on the track, strongly feels that he should be credited as the sole author, creator, composer, writer, and producer on the track.
Along with Nicki Minaj, Brinx is also suing Universal Music Group, Cash Money, and Young Money. Brinx pointed out that Nicki’s version of “Rich Sex” featuring Lil Wayne has the same lyrics from his version “It ain’t such a thing as broke and handsome.”
He added that the track also has the same music, musical notes, musical arrangements, musical beats, and musical rhythm as his version. Brinx is seeking more than 200 million dollars in damages.
Minaj, who gave birth to her first child with husband Kenneth Petty in September 2020, released her fourth studio album, “Queen,” in August 2018. The album includes 19 tracks features froFoxy Brown, Future, Lil Wayne, Swae Lee, Ariana Grande, and The Weeknd. The 37-year-old American Grammar winner has yet to comment on the lawsuit.
