Paul Pierce Quickly Shared His Reaction to Getting Fired from ESPN
Just hours after the decision came down to fire Paul Pierce as an NBA analyst went public, the basketball legend took to Twitter to literally laugh off the controversy. Posting a video of himself giving a lighthearted chuckle alongside the hashtags #smile and #Truthshallsetufree.

The Truth was terminated from his employment with ESPN, parent company Disney, after he went on IG Live during an event where he could be seen partying with what looked like adult entertainers and smoking what looked to be cannabis.
The directive to part ways with Pierce drew criticism from fans who deem his actions harmless, sparking discussion revolving around the line between the personal and professional lives of todays influencers and on air personalities.
It appears that the retired Celtic great was ultimately let go not due to his actions in the video, but rather the fact that he released the video himself. He is a finalist to be elected into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame this summer so let’s hope this does not affect his chances.
Pierce averaged 19 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and one steal over a 19 year career playing on four different teams, spending the bulk of that time with the Boston Celtics. He joined ESPN as an analyst for NBA Countdown and The Jump after his 2017 retirement.
As fans and peers rally behind him, Paul Pierce’s tweet shows that he is taking the decision in stride and that’s what we want to see from the people we support. He jumped back on IG that very same day to thank his supporters and his haters assuring them that “bigger and better things are on the way”.
