Q-Unique Releases New Single ‘VERRAZZANO VILLAINS’

With close to 30 years in rap under his belt, Brooklyn born hip hop veteran lyricist Q-Unique Teams up production duo Red Right  to bring us a taste of their new collaboration called “Verrazzano Villains”. The classic New York sound record features Wu-Tang Clan’s Cappadonna and the legendary DJ Eclipse to round out an all-star albeit unexpected collab.

It’s an elegantly dirty record that touches a few different aspects of Unique’s complex style. The two emcees trade respective, hard-hitting aggressive verses that remind us just why they are revered as legendary lyricists over a haunting, rhythmic Red Right produced track.

Cappadonna’s elderly aggressive slang editorial comes across with his signature light rasp setting off a fiery first verse that feels freshly familiar. Q takes it from there with a hook that honestly could have been revisited before unleashing the usual lyrical onslaught his pedigree has been built on.

Another hook and it’s the Eclipse show. The pioneering DJ showed up with a scratch down featuring samples from MF DOOM on “Gazillion Ear” and Capone on T.O.N.Y. in a hypnotizing eargasm of pure hip hop essence. DJ Eclipse truly shined on his own in a display sorely missed in today’s world of superficial production gimmicks. A true breath of fresh air.

The single artwork, which looks like it should be sold as an NFT, was done by graf artist SUCH and comic book illustrator Rodolfo “Rolo” Ledesma to bolster the authentic hip hop feel of the record as a whole. Stream and download Q-Unique “Verrazzano Villains” on all music streaming platforms now.
