Rapper DaBaby, whose real name is Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, was arrested in Beverly Hills while in the middle of a shopping spree with his friends. DaBaby was charged with allegedly carrying a loaded weapon, after police found a handgun while searching his vehicle, according to TMZ.
According to reports, around 4:37 pm, on Thursday. A security officer at the Gucci store on Rodeo Drive, called the Beverly Hills Police Department, saying a group of males was going southbound and one of them had a firearm in his waistband. When DaBaby and his 3 friends were about to pull off, they were swarmed with police vehicles.
The “Blind” rapper and his friends were ordered to exit while the police searched the vehicle. Upon a search the police allegedly found a 9mm firearm in the vehicle and arrested DaBaby. The other three males were not arrested.
A week Prior to DaBaby’s recent arrest in Beverly Hills. He was detained in Miami for questioning regarding a robbery that occurred earlier that day. In December the 28-year-old rapper was cited with a marijuana misdemeanor charge in Charlotte after he was targeted by the police.
Based on the Los Angeles Criminal Law Information Center, before 2012 anyone allowed to carry a firearm could legally keep and carry the loaded weapon in public. In 2012 it became illegal to carry both loaded and unloaded handguns in public. Carrying an unloaded handgun in public is considered a misdemeanor in California.
If DaBaby is convicted, he could be sentenced to either up to a year in jail. Or ordered to pay up to a $1000 fine.
