With ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’ reboot in the making many fans were hoping to see a reboot of the black classic comedy series ‘Martin’. Recently, former ‘Martin’ castmates Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell addressed why a reboot of the 90’s sitcom will never happen.
During an interview with Tamron Hall on the Tamron Hall Show, actresses Tichina Arnold, 51, and Tisha Campbell, 52, revealed that a reboot of ‘Martin’ is not going to happen. Arnold told Hall that the remake was something that they wanted to happen and something they tried hard to make happen. She added that the only way it would come back is if it were an animated version, an idea suggested by Campbell.
“It’s something that we wanted to happen,” Arnold told Hall. “It’s something that we tried very hard for it to happen, but the way it looks to me, realistically, it’s not going to happen. Not unless it’s an animation.”
The ‘Everybody Hates Chris’ actress also stated that a reboot of ‘Martin’ won’t be the same without cast mate Tommy played by Thomas Mikal Ford who passed in 2016. She added that not every hit show needs a remake, and some things are best left alone.
“This show is never going to be the same, never, and some things are best left alone,” Tichina said.
‘Martin’ starring Martin Lawrence as Martin himself, Thomas Mikal Ford, Carl Anthony Payne (Cole), Tichina Arnold (Pam) and Tisha Campbell (Gina) aired on FOX network for five seasons from 1992 to 1997. Other supporting characters on the show include Bruh Man played by Reginald Ballard and Hustle Man played by Tracey Morgan. Martin Lawrence also played other characters including Sheneneh, Mama Payne, Otis, Jerome, Roscoe, Dragon Fly Jones and more. It’s been 24 years since the show ended and still today it is one of the most beloved television sitcoms in Black culture.
