YFN Lucci the Atlanta hip-hop star been released from jail. After posting $50,000 bail weeks after his arrest for murder.
On Monday, the Atlanta hip-hop star, YFN Lucci walked out of the Fulton County Jail after posting a $500,000 surety bond. He was initially denied bond. The 29-year-old was arrested on January 13th for his role in a deadly shootout that left one of his friends, 28-year-old James Adams, dead.
According to the arrest warrant, authorities believe that Lucci, whose real name is Rayshawn Bennett, is a criminal street gang member. On December 10th, Lucci allegedly drove three fellow gang members into a rival gang’s territory. At some point, two people inside of the vehicle opened fire on the rival gang members. Adams was struck in the head during the gun battle. Witnesses later described a vehicle kicking a wounded Adams out onto the street before speeding off. He later died from his injuries.
Investigators believe Lucci was the driver of the vehicle and willingly left his friend on the street to die instead of getting him medical treatment. Another unidentified victim showed up at Atlanta Fire Station 14 with a gunshot wound to the stomach. Luckily, he survived.
Two others said to be in the vehicle, 23-year-old Ra’von Boyd and 17-year-old Leroy Pitts, were arrested in Miami in connection to the case. Authorities claim that Boyd fired his weapon from Lucci’s front seat while Adams fired his gun from the rear. It’s not clear what role Pitts played in the shootout.
Lucci’s attorney, Drew Findling, says that evidence shows that Lucci does not deserve the murder charges against him.
